Jingle All The Way is one of the most popular Christmas movies of the last two decades, and while it starred a Hollywood heavyweight in Arnold Schwarzenegger, it’s co-star Rita Wilson who is now making waves in the US.

Wilson played the role of “Liz” in the movie, the on-screen wife of Schwarzenegger’s character, Harold. Since Jingle All The Way was released back in 1996, she has gone on to have a great deal of success in the movie industry, featuring in the likes of Runaway Bride and My Big Fat Greek Wedding 2.

However, Wilson is now making a name for herself in the music industry, and more impressively still, the star of a smash-hit Christmas movie has now released her own Christmas album. Okay, technically it’s an EP rather than a full-blown album, but it still makes Wilson part of an elite club when it comes to Christmas movies and music.

The EP, titled The Christmas Sessions, was released on November 18th and features five tracks.  Four of those tracks are covers, including I’ll Be Home For Christmas and Have Yourself A Merry Little Christmas, however there is also an original track included as well.  Written by Darrell Brown and Beth Nielsen Chapman, There Will Be a Better Day features as the fifth and final track and conveys a message of hope and healing.

We were unsuccessful in reaching Rita to discuss her new Christmas tracks, but during a recent interview with Billboard.com in the US, she spoke about The Christmas Sessions.

“I’m unusual when it comes to Christmas songs,” said Wilson.

“I try to find the things that look more like, sound more like singer/songwriter-y things, so the Christmas EP has more of that flavour to it as opposed to a huge Wall of Sound kind of production.”

The Christmas Sessions is available now Amazon, iTunes and most of the other standard music-buying platforms.

The build-up to Christmas is a busy time in the music industry, and we recently learned about The Killers’ Christmas album.
