It’s the news Griswold fans have been waiting for. Well, maybe not quite. Our ears pricked up instantly when informed of a new Vacation movie coming to the UK in November, but alas, it’s not another festive instalment.

  • Chevy Chase and Beverly D’Angelo reprise their roles as Clark and Ellen Griswold
  • However, the movie will focus on the now-grown-up son Rusty – played by Ed Helms (The Hangover) – and his family
  • No sign of a Christmas theme – it’s a summer release in the States, November in the UK
  • Also features the fast-rising talent Skyler Gisondo (The Amazing Spiderman, Night at the Museum: Secret of the Tomb) as one of Rusty Griswold’s two sons

The National Lampoon’s film series was started all the way back in 1983 with the original National Lampoon’s Vacation.

In 1985 the European Vacation movie hit cinemas, but it was the 1989 Christmas version that is certainly our favourite and is watched by people all over the world each December.

However, rather than a new Christmas Vacation release, instead a modern take on the original Vacation movie is set for a release this summer in the US, with the UK following in November.

Chevy Chase and Beverly D’Angelo will reprise their roles as Clark and Ellen Griswold, but it’s expected to be in much lighter cameo roles as the new movie centres on the next generation of Griswolds.

Son Rusty (Ed Helms) is now all grown-up and has a family of his own. Along with his wife Debbie (Christina Applegate) and two sons James and Kevin (Skyler Gisondo and Steele Stebbins), they head off across the country back to Walley World for their summer vacation. With the park soon to close, it’s one final annual Griswold Vacation.

The movie, first announced all the way back in 2010, is set to hit UK cinemas on 13th November of this year. The first trailer has been released, and okay it’s not our usual Christmas-themed flick, but it looks brilliant!
