If you’re looking for a little help or inspiration in the kitchen this Christmas, you could get it from Great British Bake Off winner and best-selling author Jo Wheatley.
The winner of the 2011 series of the hit BBC show is offering several different masterclasses in the run-up to Christmas, as well as some after the festive season that may just be the perfect Christmas gift.
During November and December, you can join Jo for her “Festive Get Ahead for Christmas Demonstration and Lunch” during which you will enjoy tea and coffee with Jo, before she demonstrates some of her masterful skills and offers tips on several festive treats, including seasonal canapes, bread, main course and dessert. It’s followed by a tasty lunch in Jo’s dining room.
There is also an afternoon tea class, giving you tips and demonstrations on making a festive afternoon tea. Recipes will include mincemeat frangipane tarts, Christmas scones and a show-stopper cake. Naturally, afternoon tea is served afterwards.
Jo has several classes scheduled, fitting them around a hectic schedule which includes appearances at the Cake & Bake Show in Manchester, as well as the BBC Good Food Show Winter in Birmingham.
If you’re not able to make it to Jo’s courses, don’t fret. Many of her great recipes are available in her book Home Baking. The book, released last summer, gives some cracking recipes for some proper hearty comfort food, as well as lots of baked treats, heavenly cakes, pastries and of course, some indulgent desserts for those with a sweet tooth.
Additionally, there are some great festive recipes and tips for cooking lunch on the big day available on Jo’s website, including ones for mincemeat, cranberry sauce and some incredibly Christmassy Yorkshire Puddings which include chesnuts, shallots and brandy.
