A stellar British cast stars in the upcoming Christmas movie Merry Christmas Aubrey Flint, but what do we know about this festive comedy?
It’s no secret that we love Christmas movies here on Feel Christmassy and there is nothing quite like going to see a brand-new festive film at the cinema. The smell of fresh popcorn fills the air while Christmas lights twinkle and movie goers pile in, some wearing Christmas jumpers.
However, in recent years, it feels like the quality of Christmas films making it to the cinema seems to be on the decline, or certainly the quantity of them does. But, having gone somewhat under the radar, there is a British comedy set to release in November that could be about to add the cheer into Christmas cinema.
Merry Christmas Aubrey Flint started production back in October 2025 and will be released across the UK and Ireland in cinemas on November 6th. It’s also got distribution agreements in place for other territories, including North America.
While the big-budget Hollywood release of Ebeneezer, starring Johnny Depp, may grab much of the attention at the box office this festive season (releases November 13th), we’re pretty excited about what Merry Christmas Aubrey Flint could do.
A strong cast of British talent
While it’s rarely a barometer of whether a movie will be successful, looking over the line-up of the cast can, at the very least, give you cause for optimism. That’s certainly the case here.
Celia Imrie (The Best Exotic Marigold Hotel, Calendar Girls) John Bradley (Game of Thrones) and Richard E. Grant (Saltburn, Argyle), Adjoa Andoh (Bridgerton) and Jim Broadbent (Paddington) come together in an exceptionally talented and experienced cast.
Add to those, the likes of Karl Pilkington, Adrian Rawlins and Sophia Di Martino, and you soon get a feel for why this one is filling us with anticipation.
The plot
The plot of Merry Christmas Aubrey Flint tells the story of model soldier painter, Aubrey Flint – played by Bradley – who hates Christmas. He has to serve community service in a care home which is struggling and is soon drawn into directing a chaotic production of A Christmas Carol, starring the residents of the home.
With the future of the home, Willow Lodge, hanging in the balance, Flint is forced to rediscover the magic of Christmas and everything it brings with it.
It sounds like a funny, uplifting and just an all-round festive feel-good. Here’s hoping!
