Halloween has now passed and it’s full steam ahead to Christmas for retailers. As the pumpkins and fancy dress outfits disappear from the promotional aisles, the coming days will see them re-stocked with Christmas goodies.
Our television screens will also become flush with Christmas TV ads during the coming weeks. Supermarket chain Asda launched theirs last night (31st October), the earliest they’ve ever done so.
The hashtag #becauseitschristmas was trending within minutes as a result of the advert, but there were, as ever, some folk not too impressed with the early launch.
They best get used to it though, as a glut of TV ads are set to launch during this coming week, including the headline John Lewis campaign.
John Lewis will have their television advert aired for the first time on Friday, while both Waitrose and Marks and Spencer will launch theirs the following Sunday (8th November).
The other UK supermarkets including Morrisons, Lidl, Aldi, and Tesco will likely follow in the coming weeks, with Sainsbury’s already confirming their ad will debut in the week commencing 9th November. We expect Tesco’s will be in the latter part of that week too, once Armistice Day has passed.
We’ve also been hands-on with some of the Christmas decorations and tableware already available, so we will review some of those in the coming days.
