Online streaming giant Netflix is notching it up a gear this Christmas with the debut of a specially commissioned new show, hosted by Hollywood legend Bill Murray.
A Very Murray Christmas will be released globally on December 4th in all territories where Netflix is available. It’s going to be quite the spectacle, paying homage to the classic television variety shows of yesteryear and with a smattering of celebrities.
And by ‘celebrities’, we don’t mean reality TV stars and retired sportsmen. We are talking Hollywood A-listers. More than you can shake a stick at, in fact.
George Clooney, Chris Rock, Paul Shaffer and Miley Cyrus, to name just four. It’s written by Bill Murray himself, along with Mitch Glazer and Sofia Coppola. Coppola also directs.
The star-studded cast will be part of a real festive treat which is likely to be heavily based around music. There is a storyline too, as Bill Murray – playing himself – is concerned nobody will show up to his TV show due to a wicked winter snow storm hammering New York City.
However, with some luck and persistence, the guests begin to arrive at the Carlyle Hotel and help him out, with singing and dancing adding to the festive feel-good.
A Very Murray Christmas looks like a bright and glittering production, and we for one cannot wait to see it. It promises to be a great show.
What Christmas movies are on Netflix?
Well, this is a question we have put to the company directly, and they have promised to update us when the line-up of festive flicks is confirmed.
